The Newton South Williamsport team managed a thrilling come-from-behind victory 5-4, over Newton West tonight at Lyons Field. Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the 6th, South loaded the bases when Jesse Feldstein singled, Dylan Russo reached base on an error, and Brian Sellers put down a perfect bunt. Erik Manditch walked to score the tying run and Noah Levine hit a single to right field to seal the victory. Dylan Russo got the win on the mound, pitching the final two-thirds of the sixth inning. James Hendren and Jesse Feldstein also gave strong performances on the mound for South earlier in the game. The victory was a total team effort.

The Newton South Williamsport team suffered its first loss in the double-elimination tournament today; Parkway American defeated South 2-1. It was a well-played game on both sides, but Parkway was able to put two runs across the plate in the first inning. Phil Levine-Caleb pitched the first four innings, allowing just the two runs on three hits. James Hendren pitched a strong fifth inning to keep South in the game. Benny Wanger had the only hit for South.

The Newton South Williamsport team opened the Little League tournament with a convincing win against Newton East last night, 14-0. The game ended after five innings when the mercy rule was invoked. Dylan Russo hit a grand slam and a three-run blast to lead the South offense. Sam Houston-Read also contributed with a solo shot. Jesse Feldstein pitched four innings of one hit baseball, striking out ten. Phil Levine-Caleb convincingly closed out the game on the mound for South.
